The sport of curling is more popular than ever. We’re a handful of curlers who think it’s just wild that New York City doesn’t have a dedicated curling facility. We’re going to fix that by building the Brooklyn Curling Center.
CEO & Co-Founder
Than, a director of engineering at TED, has spent more than a decade building web platforms for large media companies including Univision, Hearst Television and American Public Media, driving development on projects that reach tens of millions of users. He began curling at the St. Paul Curling Club, one of the nation's oldest and largest clubs, and founded Broomfitters, a curling brooms and equipment store, in 2020. He will be a World Curling Federation-certified Ice Technician. He holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of Minnesota.

Director & Co-founder
Michael built his career in financial services at IHS Markit, Kearney, Citi, Morgan Stanley and Broadridge. He has been responsible for managing $150m business lines and work groups as large as 1,200 with an expertise in operational process flow and the role of technology in the client experience. He became hooked on curling in 2019 and has not looked back. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College.

Charles is a licensed attorney and was the first president of Brooklyn Lakeside Curling Club, the only active curling club in New York City. Despite conditions inhospitable to the sport, Charles and the volunteers of BLCC built a following for curling in the heart of America's biggest city. A native New Yorker, he discovered the sport as an adult.

Husani is an actor and producer in the independent film scene, with films shown at the Tribeca Film Festival and The American Black Film Festival. Like many, his curling journey began while watching coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He aspires to field one of the first Olympic qualifying curling teams for the nation of Jamaica.
Brooklyn Curling Center has assembled the premier team to help us build a dedicated curling center, bar and restaurant, and events facility in Brooklyn. The team brings extensive experience across the entire range of curling operations, from restaurant finance to ice and facilities maintenance at the highest level.

He has managed the World Curling Tour, introduced curling to multiple countries, including Nigeria and Mexico, and reached two million students with his company’s in-school curling program. Beyond building the sport, he has competed in two Canadian national championships.

Before that, he was CFO of Soho House North America, a worldwide membership club with 25 locations. He is a founding board member of the NYC Hospitality Alliance and co-founder of the New York City Hospitality Group.

Scott is the Head Ice Technician at Chaska Curling Center in Minnesota, the National Training Center for USA Curling. With nearly 20 years of experience managing curling facilities, he has made ice for many national and international competitions in North America, and holds a Level II Certification from the Canadian Curling Association.
